Softball Game Preview: Vicksburg Bulldogs vs. Unity Christian Crusaders

The Vicksburg Bulldogs will square off against the Unity Christian Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Unity Christian will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Vicksburg extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past Niles 15-5. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly ten runs.

Kylynn Schroeder was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Lena Lancaster was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Vicksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Unity Christian made easy work of Zeeland West on Tuesday and carried off an 8-2 victory.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Unity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything went Vicksburg's way against Unity Christian when the teams last played back in June of 2024, as Vicksburg made off with a 7-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
