Basketball Recap: Houghton Takes a Loss

If Houghton was feeling good fresh off their 61-21 takedown of Hancock last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Houghton Gremlins took a blow against the Marquette Redmen on Tuesday, falling 98-50. While losing is never fun, the Gremlins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Redmen are ranked 17th).

Houghton's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Marquette, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houghton will challenge Jeffers at 7:15 p.m. on February 18th. As for Marquette, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Escanaba at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Marquette is facing Escanaba at the right time seeing as Escanaba is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
