Softball Recap: Fayette Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fayette Ware

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette Academy). Everything went their way against the Fayette Ware Wildcats on Tuesday as they made off with a 24-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

JoAnna Bond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kasey Kimery was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Paige Ladner was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Fayette Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .438 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Fayette Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Fayette Ware, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayette Academy will square off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fayette Ware, they will take on Germantown at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
