Softball Recap: Montverde Academy Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Inspiration Academy

Montverde Academy faced Inspiration Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Lions 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

La'Breah Sands spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Luna Taboas and Addison Poe did most of the damage at the plate: Taboas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Poe went 1-for-3 with one home run. Taboas has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times she's played.

Montverde Academy's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Inspiration Academy, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-5.

Coming up, Montverde Academy will head out on the road to take on Foundation Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Inspiration Academy, they will square off against Clearwater at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
