Preview: Voyager Vikings vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints
Voyager has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Neumann-Goretti Saints at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Voyager focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
Voyager pushed their score all the way to 67, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Alamance. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on December 7th (58), Voyager still had to take the loss.
Voyager's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dwight Anderson, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, and Michael Gales who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Manny Pullium was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Neumann-Goretti put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Imani Christian Academy 86-49 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Neumann-Goretti has managed all season.
Voyager's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Neumann-Goretti, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
