Softball Recap: Chaska Hawks vs. Hopkins Royals
Chaska unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Hopkins Royals by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Allana Benoit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Iyla Branch was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple.
