Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Academy Lions vs. De Smet Jesuit Spartans

The Trinity Christian Academy Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the De Smet Jesuit Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Trinity Christian Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away University School of Jackson. They secured a 60-55 W over the Bruins.

Trinity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleb Williams led the charge by going 8 for 16 en route to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards Williams has posted since back in November of 2024. Brayden Waller was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, De Smet Jesuit waltzed into their match on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Golden Griffins 77-74. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Golden Griffins are ranked 44th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

De Smet Jesuit's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
