Basketball Recap: Ava Ward's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverside over Huntington

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They lost 68-43 to the Huntington Highlanders. The Warriors were down 53-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Riverside's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Ward, who posted nine points. That's the most points Ward has posted since back in February of 2024. Cianna Groom was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Huntington, their win bumped their record up to 4-16.

Coming up, Riverside is taking a road trip to challenge Capital at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside is facing Capital at the right time seeing as Capital is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Huntington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
