Football Recap: Choctawhatchee Starts off Right with Win over Gulf Shores + How To Watch

Choctawhatchee took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over the Gulf Shores Dolphins. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Choctawhatchee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamen Zabetkis, who rushed for 93 yards, and also threw for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 93 rushing yards gave Zabetkis a new career-high.

Choctawhatchee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jordan Figueroa, Amir Reese, Jaylen Brazan, and Jabari Weeks picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Gulf Shores still got an impressive performance from Carter Davis, who picked up 104 receiving yards and two scores. Davis was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 59 yards.

Choctawhatchee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-0 win against Navarre on the 29th. As for Gulf Shores, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 22-19 defeat against Mary G. Montgomery on the 29th.
