Softball Recap: Arabia Mountain Comes Up Short

Decatur hit Arabia Mountain with a 13-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 18-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Ariel Grandison and Samiyah Zellars did some serious damage despite the final result: Grandison went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and one run, while Zellars went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run. Zellars is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Arabia Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Decatur, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Looking ahead, Arabia Mountain will venture away from home to challenge Tri-Cities at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Decatur, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Woodward Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 30th.
