Basketball Recap: Central Crossing Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Savannah Hamilton and Cordelia Watkins

Central Crossing was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 66-45 to the Pickerington North Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-44 back in December of 2024.

Central Crossing's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cordelia Watkins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Savannah Hamilton, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 21 points along with eight steals and five boards. That was a full 46.7% of Central Crossing's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Central Crossing smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Central Crossing's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Pickerington North, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Central Crossing will venture away from home to take on New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Pickerington North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-38 win against Bloom-Carroll on the 3rd.
