Basketball Game Preview: Davis Pirates vs. Mead Panthers

The Davis Pirates will take on the Mead Panthers at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Davis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 contests -- so hopefully Mead likes a good challenge.

Davis is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Sumner just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Spartans 67-62.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Mead had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Eastmont by a score of 56-47 on Saturday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Wildcats are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mead is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Davis' loss dropped their record down to 20-3.

Everything went Davis' way against Mead in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Davis made off with a 70-50 win. Does Davis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mead turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
