Basketball Recap: North Montgomery's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

North Montgomery had lost five straight headed into Saturday's matchup, but Kelby Harwood didn't let it get to six. The North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers walked away with a 48-39 win over the North Vermillion Falcons on Saturday thanks in part to Harwood, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points along with seven boards and six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of North Montgomery's points.

Another player making a difference was Caden Ireland, who posted four points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two).

North Vermillion lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Teagan Leonard, who put up 16 points. Owen Edwards was another key player, putting up seven points.

North Montgomery's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for North Vermillion, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

North Montgomery will challenge Benton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Vermillion, they will welcome South Vermillion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Vermillion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
