Football Recap: Lone Peak Knights vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs

Lone Peak gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs to the tune of 49-14. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Knights had established a 21-point advantage.

Lone Peak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cruz Christensen out in front who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. The Knights also got help from Kennan Pula, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

Lone Peak was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Crimson Cliffs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Holt, who picked up 152 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Tanoai Andresen was another key player, throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
