Virginia safety Devon Hunter commits to Virginia Tech

Four-star safety Devon Hunter of Indian River (Chesapeake, Va.) made his college commitment Friday to Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound ball hawk is regarded as the No. 3 safety and No. 45 overall prospect by 247Sports. The Hokies won out over Alabama, Auburn, Florida and North Carolina.

Hunter posted 84 tackles, 15 pass deflections and five tackles for loss this year. He proved his versatility by running for 1,253 yards and compiling 24 total touchdowns in leading the Braves to the second round of the Virginia Group 5A playoffs.
