Football Recap: Hernando Falls Short of Oxford in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hernando can now relate to. They were dealt a 42-6 defeat at the hands of the Oxford Chargers on Friday. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Asher Lawson threw for 38 yards on four of 12 attempts. On the ground, Cooper Lankford rushed for 148 yards and one score while picking up 7.0 yards per carry.

Oxford found their leader in sophomore Demar Jamerson, who rushed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also caught one TD.

Hernando's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Oxford, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Hernando does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oxford, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-27 win against Horn Lake on the 21st.
