Softball Recap: Dixon Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Casa Roble, Dixon was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the El Camino Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Dakota Gaball made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Morris, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Olivia Gomez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Dixon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dixon is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for El Camino, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Dixon and El Camino could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Rams will take on Destiny Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (291 vs. 60). Meanwhile, El Camino (ranked 815th) will meet Rio Linda (ranked 306th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
