Volleyball Game Preview: Leopold Wildcats vs. Marquand-Zion Tigers

Leopold has gone a perfect 10-0 against Marquand-Zion recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Leopold has four straight wins, Marquand-Zion has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If Woodland wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Leopold, they should've done a better job of containing Malia VanderMierden. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday with plenty of help from VanderMierden, who had ten digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 29-27, 25-17.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Marquand-Zion faced off against Meadow Heights on Monday. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Panthers.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-1, 25-12, 25-6.

Leopold's win bumped their record up to 23-4-2. As for Marquand-Zion, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Leopold took their victory against Marquand-Zion in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
