Football Recap: Pieper Warriors vs. Boerne Greyhounds
Pieper took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 victory over the Boerne Greyhounds.
Cayden Keeth was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Champagne, who picked up 88 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Pieper wouldn't let Boerne keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Kylor Scheppler, Cash Maroney, and Thor Myklebust picked up one apiece. Caleb Gale is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. Bennett King was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles.
Boerne lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hank Hendrix, who threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. That's the most total yards Hendrix has posted since back in October of 2023. Brooks Perez was Hendrix's top target, picking up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Pieper will take on Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Boerne, they will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against United at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
