Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

After flying high against Glenwood on Friday, Eastern came back down to earth. The Eagles lost 14-4 to the Northwest Mohawks on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Mohawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Eastern saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Trey Kelly was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Northwest, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will head out to face off against Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwest, they will venture away from home to square off against Minford at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
