Basketball Recap: Brownell Talbot Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mead on Friday, Brownell Talbot came back down to earth. The Brownell Talbot Raiders took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Louisville Lions on Saturday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Brownell Talbot still got an impressive performance from Abbi Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Nichols, who posted five points in addition to 11 boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Brownell Talbot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Brownell Talbot's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Louisville, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Brownell Talbot and Concordia will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Louisville, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Nebraska City at 3:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
