Basketball Game Preview: Pavilion Golden Gophers vs. Geneseo Blue Devils

Pavilion and Geneseo are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Pavilion Golden Gophers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Geneseo Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pavilion has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Pavilion will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Mount Morris on Saturday. Pavilion simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mount Morris 62-31.

Meanwhile, Geneseo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 53-32 to Caledonia-Mumford. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 515th, while the Raiders are ranked 142nd).

Pavilion's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Geneseo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Pavilion strolled past Geneseo in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 44-27. Does Pavilion have another victory up their sleeve, or will Geneseo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
