Baseball Game Preview: Sycamore Spartans vs. Yorkville Foxes

The Sycamore Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Yorkville Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sycamore gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Hononegah.

Evan Munch looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Davis Collie, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Eder, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Sycamore lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yorkville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Willowbrook by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday.

Yorkville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for Sycamore, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Sycamore took their victory against Yorkville in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 13-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
