Baseball Recap: Del Norte Find Success

While Del Norte's win against El Camino wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Nighthawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 5-4. The Nighthawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats on Tuesday, too.

Aiden Sun made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sun was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Del Norte is 2-1 when Sun posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Cole Hoffman tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Grey Gusich, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Del Norte's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for El Camino, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Del Norte will have a chance to go back-to-back against El Camino: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
