Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. Savanna Rebels

The Santa Fe Chiefs will face off against the Savanna Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-23, which was the final score in Santa Fe's tilt against California on Wednesday. The Chiefs have struggled against the Condors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Savanna waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 win over the Cavaliers.

Savanna's win came from a few key players Santa Fe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Paul Henderson, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023. Branden Ellis was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five steals.

Savanna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7.5 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.9.

Savanna has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
