Softball Recap: Coalinga Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Coalinga came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Mendota Aztecs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-0 back in April.

Brooklyn Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Coalinga got a massive performance out of Sophie Walker, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Walker has posted since back in April of 2024. Minayah Singleton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Coalinga hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Coalinga pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mendota, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-18.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Coalinga is set to challenge their familiar foe Dos Palos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Horned Toads 2.6, the Broncos 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mendota will square off against rival Avenal at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
