The Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Nixon, falling 90-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mission Veterans Memorial in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost nine in a row.
Nixon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Vela, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Escobar, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Mission Veterans Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Nixon, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 22-9.
Mission Veterans Memorial will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Martin will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Nixon, they will head out on the road to take on the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juarez-Lincoln has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
