The matchup between Maiden and West Lincoln on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Maiden Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the West Lincoln Rebels. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Madison Herms made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Herms wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Wray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Amelia Beal was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Maiden now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maiden will host West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Lincoln, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bunker Hill at 6:00 p.m.
