Salem extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They fell 8-4 to the Beverly Panthers. Salem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Tsoutsouras, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Xavier Pacheco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Beverly, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Beverly's side, Graham Gavin looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Gavin has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Callan McCay was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Pierce, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
As of now, neither Salem nor Beverly have any future games scheduled.
