League recap: Syracuse enters state Top 25

C1 District 2 recap October 8, 2013

Syracuse was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Falls City. The Rockets came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.

Syracuse added to the longest winning streak in C1 District 2 this week by beating the Tigers, 33-16. The win marks fifth in a row for the Rick Nordhues' team.

Thanks to the talents of Mitchell Stilmock and Zach Heitkamp, the Rockets have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Stilmock is tops in the league in passing with 68 yards, while Heitkamp has rushed for 719 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Falls City's Jordan Stoller, with 78 yards on 2 catches.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Syracuse takes on Auburn. The Rockets are in first place, while the Bulldogs are in fourth place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Syracuse takes on Auburn. The Rockets have allowed 48 points this season, while Bob Fuller's team has given up 127. Syracuse allowed 16 points last week as it defeated Darin Fritz's team.

Lincoln Lutheran lost to the Bulldogs 43-10 last week, the largest margin of any game.
