Softball Game Preview: Crivitz Wolverines vs. Gillett Tigers

The Crivitz Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Gillett Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Crivitz is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Crivitz came out on top against Niagara on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Badgers with a sharp 6-0 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Taryn Tracy, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Niagara off the board. Tracy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Izzy Wesoloski, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marli Meyers, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crivitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Gillett duked it out with Coleman on Thursday. The Tigers came up short against the Cougars, falling 15-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Crivitz's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Gillett, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Crivitz got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Gillett by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
