Softball Recap: Carteret's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Carteret had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-8 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Piscataway Chiefs 17-11. The result was nothing new for the Ramblers, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Trinity Bernadino, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Arianna King also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Piscataway, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked their highest-scoring game to date.

On Piscataway's side, Alisha Dhillon stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Salgado, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Carteret will square off against Rahway at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Piscataway, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Perth Amboy at 4:30 p.m.
