Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Highland

Highland extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Jordan Steele. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Highland Trojans made off with a 53-52 win over the Hanover Central Wildcats thanks in part to Steele, who went 11 for 22 on her way to 29 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Her afternoon made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Ballard, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Despite the defeat, Hanover Central had strong showings from Bridget Noel, who shot 4-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Sienna Stilley, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Stilley has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Hanover Central, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will welcome Lowell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hanover Central, they will look to defend their home court on January 10th against Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:00 p.m.
