Football Recap: Stagg Falls to Romeoville in First Game of Season

Stagg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They and the Romeoville Spartans were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Chargers suffered a 20-19 loss. While the Chargers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 12-0 in the first quarter.

A big part of Romeoville's win came down to the chemistry between Richard Conley and his top target Keilan Winfield. Conley threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns while Winfield picked up 137 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Winfield really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Stagg has already played their next contest, a 42-0 defeat against Oak Forest on the 5th. As for Romeoville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 27-8 victory against Tinley Park on the 5th.
