Soccer Game Preview: Sweeny vs. La Marque

Sweeny has gone a perfect 7-0 against La Marque recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. La Marque took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sweeny, who comes in off a win.

Sweeny had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Stafford on Saturday. The Bulldogs never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Sweeny might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, La Marque was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Columbia.

Sweeny is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those nine matchups. As for La Marque, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12-1.

Everything went Sweeny's way against La Marque when the teams last played back in January, as Sweeny made off with a 6-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
