Baseball Recap: Murray Victorious

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Murray and Calloway County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers came out on top against the Lakers by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Will McCoil was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Murray is 2-1 when McCoil allows two or fewer hits, but 10-12 otherwise. McCoil was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cody Garner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Starks, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Murray lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Murray's record is now 12-13. As for Calloway County, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9.

Murray will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
