Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Heights Christian Eagles vs. Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs

Eagle Heights Christian is 0-6 against Shawnee Mission Christian since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Eagle Heights Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Monday, Eagle Heights Christian came up short against Whitefield Academy and fell 32-19. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission Christian played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Heritage Christian, falling 54-28. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Shawnee Mission Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Wilson dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. Wilson also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Shawnee Mission Christian is 3-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isabella Anderson, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Shawnee Mission Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Shawnee Mission Christian now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Eagle Heights Christian, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Eagle Heights Christian came up short against Shawnee Mission Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 31-20. Can Eagle Heights Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
