Basketball Recap: Boardman Comes Up Short

Boardman was the 54-41 winner over Austintown-Fitch when they last played one another on January 11th, but their luck changed this time around. The Boardman Spartans took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Austintown-Fitch Falcons on Wednesday.

Austintown-Fitch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Severn out in front who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those 21 points gave Severn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amiya Harris, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points and five assists.

Boardman now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Austintown-Fitch, their record is now 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boardman will challenge Harding at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Boardman is facing Harding at the right time seeing as Harding is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will take on Howland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
