Baseball Game Preview: Oakdale Warriors vs. Avoyelles Mustangs

The Oakdale Warriors will square off against the Avoyelles Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avoyelles took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakdale, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Oakdale turned things around against Port Barre on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 8-5.

Terance Robinson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Oakdale got a big performance out of Keane Micelle, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5. Oakdale is undefeated when Micelle posts two or more runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Tylon Jackson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Mustangs on Tuesday. Avoyelles fell just short of Rapides by a score of 7-5.

Oakdale's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-12. As for Avoyelles, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Oakdale took their victory against Avoyelles in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Does Oakdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Avoyelles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
