Basketball Recap: Columbus International Comes Up Short

If Columbus International was feeling good fresh off their 75-47 takedown of East last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Columbus International Lions fell just short of the Linden-McKinley Panthers by a score of 51-48 on Monday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 64-37.

Despite the loss, Columbus International still got an impressive performance from Leila Carter, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 boards. Carter's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chyauna Jackson, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Columbus International smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Columbus International's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Linden-McKinley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Columbus International didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-16 victory against Mifflin on the 28th. Linden-McKinley has also already played their next contest (against Whetstone), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
