Basketball Game Preview: El Dorado Cougars vs. Union Mine Diamondbacks

El Dorado hasn't had much luck against Union Mine recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The El Dorado Cougars will host the Union Mine Diamondbacks at 7:00 p.m. El Dorado has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Tuesday, El Dorado beat Amador 76-67. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Union Mine waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 82-57 win. Given the Diamondbacks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while the Warriors are ranked 1354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

El Dorado's victory bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Union Mine, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

El Dorado might still be hurting after the 87-67 defeat they got from Union Mine in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Union Mine's Matt Manfredi, who shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a triple-double with 30 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
