Bloomington North and Columbus East are an even 3-3 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Olympians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus East took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bloomington North, who comes in off a win.
Bloomington North is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Jeffersonville on Friday. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Devils 36-3. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 26-point advantage.

Bloomington North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was John Bargen out in front who threw for 193 yards and three TDs. The Cougars are undefeated when Bargen posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Carter Matthew helped Bargen out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Bloomington North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-28, which was the final score in Columbus East's tilt against Floyd Central on Friday.
Bloomington North will have to contain Kyson Villarreal as he made an impact in Columbus East's last game. He threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 51 yards and one TD. Dallas Dykstra was another key player, picking up 95 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Columbus East's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Bloomington North, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Bloomington North beat Columbus East 28-20 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Villarreal, who threw for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries.
