Softball Game Preview: St. Bede Bruins vs. Sandwich Indians

The St. Bede Bruins will take on the Sandwich Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in St. Bede's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Sandwich has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

If St. Bede beats Sandwich with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bruins came out on top in a nail-biter against Marquette on Thursday, sneaking past 10-9. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lily Bosnich was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Mercer, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

St. Bede was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Sandwich suffered their biggest defeat since March 25th on Thursday. They came up short against Marengo, falling 16-6.

Kayden Corneils was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Audryna Brain also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Sandwich's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for St. Bede, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
