Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is New Berlin West's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

New Berlin West won against West Allis Central on Tuesday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Vikings beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

New Berlin West got a great performance from Dane Buelow as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Buelow a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Jonah Kopischke was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Daniel Kibler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

New Berlin West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Allis Central only posted an OBP of .200.

New Berlin West has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Allis Central, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19.

New Berlin West and West Allis Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Vikings will square off against Whitnall at 4:45 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (121 vs. 18). Meanwhile, West Allis Central (ranked 377th) will meet Kewaskum (ranked 39th) at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
