Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jachavis Sherrill and Noah Vanbeurden Lead St. Stephens to Victory

There's no place like home for St. Stephens, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Foard Tigers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 77-60. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

St. Stephens was led to victory by Noah Vanbeurden and Jachavis Sherrill. Vanbeurden went 9 for 18 en route to 34 points, while Sherrill dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Sherrill a new career-high in blocks (three). Alan Wilson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

St. Stephens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Foard still got an impressive performance from Holden Caldwell, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 23 points. Caldwell is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Malachi Mcknight was another key player, putting up 13 points and six boards.

The victory snapped St. Stephens' losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-11 record. As for Foard, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

St. Stephens has already played their next contest, an 87-85 win against West Iredell on the 24th. As for Foard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-61 defeat against North Iredell on the 24th.
