Football Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

Southwest lost against Miami Springs back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles were dealt a 52-14 loss at the hands of the Golden Hawks.

Kenan Powell was nothing short of spectacular for Miami Springs: he rushed for 296 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 15 yards and one TD. Powell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. Another player making a difference was Tariq Wilkerson, who rushed for 91 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Miami Springs, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Southwest and Miami Springs will both be playing South Miami the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Golden Hawks will host them at 3:30 p.m. on September 11.
