South Fremont dropped their record down to 14-13 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Sugar-Salem Diggers, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Diggers this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-0 defeat two weeks ago.

As for Sugar-Salem, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games.

For Sugar-Salem's part, Jack Gardner spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Gardner has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sugar-Salem got a massive performance out of Will Chappell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dawson McInelly, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sugar-Salem beat South Fremont by a score of 16-6 later that day.
