Baseball Recap: Perris Starts Season with Victory Against Rubidoux

Perris had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Rubidoux Falcons 13-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Diego Velazco made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Adan Perez was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joel Viera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perris will head out to square off against San Jacinto Valley Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rubidoux, they will head out on the road to face off against Temecula Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rubidoux has now lost 12 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 14.
