Softball Recap: Resurrection Gets the Win

Resurrection won the last time they faced Regina Dominican and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bandits' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 8-0 shutout. The Bandits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Regina Dominican's batters probably weren't too happy with Elizabeth Dorgan, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Dorgan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kailey Janus and Emily Cook did most of the damage at the plate: Janus went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Cook went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Cook continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played.

Resurrection hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Resurrection's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Regina Dominican, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Resurrection will face off against Loyola Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ramblers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bandits surely won't give up without a fight. As for Regina Dominican, they will square off against Latin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
