Softball Preview: Juarez Eagles vs. Lincoln Park Lions
The Juarez Eagles will head out to square off against the Lincoln Park Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Juarez knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Lincoln Park likes a good challenge.
Juarez's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Solorio as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Senn by a score of 11-6 on Friday.
Sarah Hansen and Ella Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hansen pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Miller pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Hansen posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Hansen went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Miller went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That triple was Hansen's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Alvarez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Stankiewicz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
Lincoln Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Senn only managed nine hits.
Juarez's record is now 16-2. As for Lincoln Park, their record now sits at 4-8.
